Step into the shoes of agent Reiv, a synthetic human sent into the distant past with two goals:retrieve a weapon of godlike power and shed enough blood to prevent the end of humanity.

This is more or less a swan song of my old MBF21 modding days. I made quite a few mods, but none of them were specifically made for tackling slaughtermaps. Now that so much time has passed, I figured it would be good to go for one last hurrah and recycle, reference and restructure bits and pieces from my past mods.

As such, this is provided as-is. I won't make any further changes to this, what you see is what you get. You're free to tweak it if you want.

Your arsenal:

SLOT 1:

 Kinetic force gauntlet:

You already punch harder than a human ever could. Pair that with this bulky gauntlet and your punches cause more damage than most of your weapons. Find combat stims and you might just knock barons out in one punch.

 Energy PDW:

A plasma gun with infinite ammo, but slightly lower damage and a mandatory cooldown every 30 shots. Yeah, it's not going to be particularly helpful but everyone loves some good BRRRRT, right?

SLOT 2

 Autorifle:

A monster of an automatic rifle and a far cry of the old, piddly pistol. It's accurate even in sustained fire and hits like a truck, though it's also ever so slightly slower than the vanilla chaingun. Need to ration your bullets or be accurate? This is what you reach for.

SLOT 3

 Heavy shotgun:

Think super shotgun, but with tighter spread, even more damage and a nice improvement to the rate of fire. Since this uses 2 shells per shot, the shell pickups now give 50% more ammo to make sure using it won't break the bank.

 Smart frag shotgun:

Not exactly a shotgun and more of a full auto mini missile launcher. The mini missiles trade widespread burst damage for sustained crowd-clearing power, as they deal solid impact damage and have a small blast radius. You don't take damage from them, and the mini missiles travel straight for a fraction of a second before homing.

SLOT 4

 Machine pistols:
A pair of machine pistols with a blistering fire rate, featuring decent accuracy and damage. They don't do anything special aside from ripping through waves of fodder, stunlocking single monsters and putting usually abundant bullet ammo to use. Again: if you need accuracy and power, use the autorifle.

SLOT 5

 Incendiary launcher:

The go-to tool for area denial. The main tweak here is done to the rockets themselves, which fly considerably faster, do more damage and leave lingering flames on impact. The splash damage is higher than vanilla, but the distance is the same and the fire doesn't hurt you - but it does foil splash immunity. With some luck, seven rockets are all you need to wreck a cyberdemon.

SLOT 6

 Naplasm caster:

A strange mix of flamethrower, plasma gun and beta BFG. This fires two projectiles per shot: one is more accurate, the other less so. Both projectiles can bounce off the floor and ceiling, giving them another chance to hit something. Because of the high rate of fire and the fact the projectiles burn on impact, you can stunlock and melt anything if you corner it in time.

SLOT 7

 The Relic:

A cursed sword from another dimension that eats naplasm cells and spits out five energy blades that rip through everything in their path. The energy blades themselves do high damage and only stop when they hit walls, detonating for rather high damage in a wide radius. What makes this weapon truly devastating is the damage aura emitted by the blades' trails, which utterly annihilate scores of weaker monsters. Use it well.

Suggested WADs

  • Sunder
  • Combat Shock duology (the screenshots are from Combat Shock 2's fith map, boiling point)
  • Embraced
  • Formless Mother
  • Gossip (not really slaughter, but has its fair share of grind.)
  • Meat Machine (probably the easiest pick here)
  • Really anything by TreehouseMinis, the dude knows how to make good slaughter.

These are all ball-bustingly hard, even with souped up guns.  You will still need to know how to assess threats, herd monsters, dodge dozens of projectiles and have good spatial awareness.  The new weapons may make these maps easier or harder.

You have been warned.

Awesome mod.  Now I can play Sunder in Nugget Doom without the frame rate dipping into the single digits, lol.

Best of luck. Hope it's the first kind of funTM.

Very fun simple gameplay mod, and the first one thats made me want to use the chaingun replacement over the shotguns! Really love the dual wielded guns!

Glad to hear you like it. I must admit the dual wielded machine pistols were maybe one of the less developed parts of the mod, but hey, if it works it works.

There is a couple of distracting bright red pixels on the mugshot.

There's no red in the mugshot, so it's probably in the STBAR graphic itself.

Feel free to paint the mugshot area black if you prefer.

Between this and Skelegant, I shall be ready to challenge Sunlust.

Hope you have fun with it. You'll definitely have an easier time, but the maps are crafted to be enemies unto themselves.
